Peter Berg Adds Salt To His Plate![]()
Peter Berg is quickly racking up the projects. When that WGA/AMPTP strike dam breaks, the man is going to have to figure out what order to tackle all of these projects in. Last week it was announced that Berg would be helming a new movie based on Frank Herbert’s Dune. Now Variety has reported the director is in talks to take the reins on Edwin A. Salt, the Tom Cruise spy thriller.
Berg and Cruise have apparently had a sit down chat about Berg taking over the picture, which previously was in the hands of Terry George. The movie is about a CIA agent who is accused of being a Russian sleeper spy set out to assassinate the president. Cruise, er, I mean, the agent attempts to reunite with his family while finding out who the real culprit is, and whether it has anything to do with Provasic. Oh, sorry, that last part is from The Fugitive. Regardless, I guarantee at some point in the movie we’ll see Cruise running. Right now Edwin A. Salt is slated to start production in June, “depending on labor developments.” Remember – right now there’s the writer’s strike going on, but there’s a very real chance a director and actor strike could be happening in 2008, so even though Berg is loading up his plate with projects, some of them might not see developments for quite some time. Frankly, it’s a smart move on the Kingdom director’s part to have as many options as he can get. |
