MOVIE NEWS
Peter Jackson Boards Halo This is almost too good to be believed. If you had any doubts about how dead-set Bungie and Microsoft were on making their Halo movie film’s first truly successful videogame adaptation, stow it right now They’ve just hired Peter Jackson.
Ok, calm down. He’s not directing (at least not yet). Instead, he’ll be taking on Executive Producer duties. What exactly that means is open to interpretation. It could mean he’ll be involved in everything, or involved in absolutely nothing. Only time will tell. That said, what’s particularly exciting is that he’s bringing his amazing, WETA workshop effects team with him. They’ll be heavily involved in creating the world of Halo, which guarantees that whatever else this movie is, it’ll look positively amazing. In fact, I can’t imagine anyone else but them capable of properly bringing to life Bungie’s rich, detail-filled environments. With WETA involved, this could be the next Star Wars…. though right now I’d settle for any sort of successful space opera. With Serenity’s failure, success for space science fiction is looking less doable than ever. Reacting to the joyous news, Bungie rep Joseph Stanton said this on their official site, “I and the rest of Bungie are positively incontinent.” You’ve gotta love those guys. |
