Peter Jackson Speaks Up About Tintin![]()
I can’t lie about the fact that it makes me sad that aside from The Lovely Bones, the next directing projects that we’ll be getting from two of the most talented directors that ever lived are two animated Tintin movies. While it’s likely that the quality of the films will be top notch, it’s hard not to wish that both Peter Jackson and Steven Spielberg would take on a real project (ahem, Lincoln).
Either way, Jackson seems pretty upbeat about the whole thing, as he recently talked with MTV about the progress of not only Spielberg’s movie but also the one that he’ll be working on right after Spielberg is done. According to Jackson, The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn is all cut up and ready for viewing in first draft form. "[Spielberg]'s just finished his cut, which he's showing me when I get back home next week," says Jackson. As far as the sequel goes, Jackson says, "I'm partial to The Seven Crystal Balls [and] Prisoners of the Sun, that was always one of my favorites. I love The Black Island as well." To be honest, I have no idea what that means. If you’re one of our more cultured readers, this may mean a lot more to you, but Jackson seems to be keen to the fact that Tintin may not play well to an American crowd. As you can imagine, Jackson has a lot to handle on his plate already with The Hobbit movies going into production fairly soon. He says he has plenty of time to change his mind about which stories to cover in his movie. I’m hoping he changes his mind about directing it altogether and directs, I don’t know? A Superman movie? That’d be sweet. |
