America's love of unoriginality (I know it's not a word...I don't care) reared it's ugly head this weekend as folks went for the remake and the bland sequel. The Pink Panther, Steve Martin's effort to fill Peter Sellers shoes, came out on top. As a movie that shamelessly merged bits and pieces of the original Pink Panther films, it's been hammered by critics and deservedly so. Still, it came out on top. Go figure.

Final Destination wasn't much worth seeing either but American's love rehashed plot lines almost as much as they love obscenely large containers of carbonated beverages. It came it at number two with Curious George and Firewall trailing behind.

More crap rolls into theater next week with Date Movie and Paul Walker's Eight Below. The gluttony of mediocrity marches forward.
