Pitt And Norton Together Again![]()
Brad Pitt and Edward Norton are getting back together for a fight. This time unfortunately, it won’t be fought with fists. Variety reports the Fight Club co-starring duo will star in a new Universal Pictures theatrical adaptation of the British miniseries State of Play, in which Edward Norton will unfortunately, not be kicking his own ass.
In State of Play Ed Norton plays a congressman who finds his political life threatened by an investigation into the death of his mistress. Unless he also tapped the foot of a police officer in a public restroom he probably has nothing to worry about, but the heat is on when a journalist played by Brad Pitt starts investigating and develops a relationship with the politician’s estranged wife. Seeing Norton and Pitt together on screen should be fun, but it would have been a lot more fun if they’d picked something less boring. Maybe I’m wrong and maybe there’s more to it than Variety lets on, but State of Play’s plot description sounds like the bland plot description of at least a dozen other Oscar bait corruption movies. State of Play is no Fight Club. I’d say they should get back with David Fincher, but then if you saw Zodiac you know that when it comes to excitement David Fincher isn’t exactly the guy to turn to these days anyway. Actually, he’d probably be perfect to direct this. It sounds like another tedious Zodiac-like media mess. Just talking about it has gotten me ready for a nap. |
