Alright, I don't know what to think of Cars at this point. The first few trailers for the film looked horrible, really sub-part stuff that seemed totally uncharacteristic of Pixar. More recent trailers have started to look better, the animation quality has improved and the quirky little one liners quipped by the movie's car characters have been funny.

Now there's this, a spot for the film that played last weekend during the Daytona 500. The folks at Disney know their target audience, and so the trailer is kind of skewed towards a racing audience. That makes sense, and as a result this is the first trailer to show a lot of racing footage from the film. Some of that looks pretty cool.

But this trailer isn't just skewed to appeal to a racing audience, it's tailored to a redneck racing audience. I can live with the fact that Larry the Cable Guy does a voice in the movie, it even makes sense that in a trailer playing during the Daytona 500 they'd promote his presence. But when the last words spoken in the trailer by one of the car characters are, "Git-R-Done!", well I have a little trouble controlling the urge to vomit.

I don't know what exactly Cars is, but I know I'm scared of it. Maybe it'll work, but I still can't shake the worry that we may be on our way to seeing Pixar's first failure. Oh it'll make a lot of money no matter what, but what if this is their first bad film? I hope that day never comes.
