Polo Meets The Fockers Again

Polo Meets The Fockers Again Meet the Fockers would have been the perfect place to end the Meet the Parents franchise. Go out on a high note, why push your luck, right? But Meet the Fockers made more than $500 million worldwide, and so there’s going to be more.

The Associated Press reports that the third film is moving forward, and Teri Polo has officially been signed to reprise her role as Ben Stiller’s wife. She knows her place and says of Stiller, “I think he cast me in the role because I play a great straight man.” She’s probably right. No word on who is back besides Stiller, but De Niro and Blythe Danner are almost certain to return as the parents of Polo’s character. Without them they don’t have a movie.

Film number three is supposed to be called, predictably, Meet the Little Focker. From the title you can probably figure out what it’s about. Time for Ben Stiller to screw up having a baby!

I laughed a lot at the first movie, and the second one was entertaining. Dustin Hoffman seemed to have a lot of fun with it. But do we really need to follow the Fockers through all of life’s stages? The movies are only going to get progressively less funny as we become more and more familiar with the franchise’s gags. Comedy just wasn’t meant for multiple sequels.
