Portman And Bana In Love

By Josh Tyler: 2006-06-21 00:00:00
Portman And Bana In Love Natalie Portman and Eric Bana are negotiating with Columbia Pictures to star in their next period drama. The Hollywood Reporter says the film is The Other Boleyn Girl, and it’s the story of the 16th century’s ambitious Boleyn sisters Mary and Anne. Portman would play Anne as she competes with her sister for the affections of King Henry VIII. Bana would play the king, a role worth taking just so he can say, “I’m Henry VIII I am, Henry VIII I am I am.”

With a screenplay by Peter Morgan, shooting is set to start in Europe (probably in drafty old castles) this September. The script is based on a book which the BBC made a movie out of in 2003. Some of the producers from the BBC version are carrying over to the feature film, so if you’re a fan of dingy BBC period dramas you’ve cause to be happy. You’re also probably a woman.

Justin Chadwick is set to direct the film, which I guess means that Portman and Bana don’t feel the same as Lindsay Lohan about the types of directors they’ll work with. Lindsay’s holding out for the next Spielberg pic, they’re hopping on board with a career BBC mini-series director.

Both Bana and Portman have been on the rise lately. Eric starred in one of the best films of 2005, Steven Spielberg’s Munich and Natalie toplined the best movie of 2006 so far, V for Vendetta.
