Portman May Be Eyeing Snow White

Portman May Be Eyeing Snow White One of the first things you learn in the cutthroat world of online journalism is how to spot a reliable rumor. I normally discard most of the beauty salon gossip, but a juicy tidbit at Moviehole caught my eye today. Apparently, they heard it from Asian Popcorn who heard it from CRIenglish who heard it from a Chinese news service who heard it from a Hong Kong based paper. A high stakes game of Chinese telephone like that just has to be true.

According to this Hong Kong paper, Jet Li and Natalie Portman are in talks to appear in an updated version of Snow White And The Seven Dwarves. The producers seem to be taking a very literal translation of the original work as this remake would include seven kung-fu experts be set about two thousand years in the future. Natalie Portman would play the reincarnated Snow White, and an untold hag of an actress would portray the diabolical stepmother. They also list an estimated budget of seventy million. Where they got this figure from, I’m really not sure.

So to recap: Natalie Portman and Jet Li may or may not be involved in a Snow White update featuring kung fu moves. All I can say is: I’m down. Just tell me where this is showing, and I will wait in line.
