It's very, very tempting to immediately write off Eddie Murphy's upcoming comedy as another audience-pandering piece of crap that will send us running away, screaming, back to our DVDs of Eddie Murphy Raw. But rumor has it that last summer's Meet Dave wasn't truly horrible, and his latest family-friendly comedy, Imagine That-- in which a businessman's daughter's fantasies help him get ahead at work-- might not be too awful either.
So while I'm uninspired by the pretty generic new poster for Imagine That, I'm resisting the urge to use it as a platform for more Murphy bashing. If he can come up with a good kid's comedy, and if that little girl on his back isn't entirely irritating, it might even be grounds for a comeback. At least, thank God, it doesn't involve a fat suit.
