MOVIE NEWS
Poster For Vendetta This is sort of an odd coincidence. Last night I finished the final page of “V for Vendetta” in graphic novel form, and this morning AICN has an exclusive (which means I don’t get to post it here for all of you) on the debut of the release date jiggled movie’s new, rather sweet looking poster. To see it, click here.
It’s really a spectacular one sheet. Maybe I’m just on a high after finishing the book, but that’s perfect artwork, much better than their previous, pre-release date shuffle poster which I’ve posted to your right. It’s classic looking, it’s art, not just advertisement. Also, it helps that it has the correct release date. Now that I’ve finished reading it, I just hope the Wachowski brothers can get the movie adaptation right. A straight adaptation will never work, the original comic was written back in the 80’s and as a result a lot of the specifics of the story (which was supposed to take place in the 90’s) are no longer relevant. In part, that’s because so much of the totalitarian society author Alan Moore predicted has come true. For instance, the book makes a big deal of cameras being mounted on every street corner to monitor people. We have that now, in fact it is a normal part of life. But that’s not to say ‘V for Vendetta’ is outdated. Some of the specifics like that need to be altered, but the concepts behind it are timeless and should really work well as a movie with some heft to it. A film that actually says something.
