Like it or not, Oscar season is bearing down upon us fast-- come September we'll already be seeing the debuts of a handful of contenders (like Steven Soderbergh's The Informant), and the promotional campaigns for the rest are already gearing up. With 10 Best Picture nominations to vie for, we'll probably be seeing an advertising onslaught of Biblical proportions.

And one of the biggest horses in the race is Amelia, the biopic starring Hilary Swank as the famed aviator. Mira Nair (Monsoon Wedding) is directing, Richard Gere and Ewan McGregor are rounding out the cast-- yeah, it's got prestige written all over it. Fox Searchlight has released the first one-sheet for the film, which, to its credit, takes at least a few steps back from the traditional biopic playbook. It's not sepia-toned, it doesn't feature floating heads representing notable figures form the past, and it even dares to show the leading lady from behind, not even relying on a famous face to sell it (Yet. This is just the first poster after all.)
