I have to admit, when I think of Jon Heder, the one phrase that comes quickly to mind is “mama’s boy,” so the actor seems well suited for the similarly-titled movie, Mama’s Boy, hitting theaters in December. A promotional poster for the movie as appeared online and I think it proves Heder is well suited for the role.

Unfortunately, the poster doesn’t really do anything to distinguish this movie from any of Heder’s others. He looks absolutely ridiculous dressed in leather armor and and leather bootlets, but no more so than he did as huge nerd Napoleon Dynamite or wearing a bicycle helmet constantly in Benchwarmers. I’m all for taking advantage of typecasting, but can we at least make it look like this is a different movie?

Mama’s Boy stars Heder as a 29-year-old who still lives at home with his mother. He finds his cushy position endangered when his mother meets a motivational speaker who Heder goes to war with in order to maintain his safe haven at home. Sounds a lot like the same battle between Heder and Billy Bob Thornton in School for Scoundrels, only with Jeff Daniels instead of Thornton.
