Posters Nominated For Awarding

I love movie posters, and if I had the time I’d run more editions of my once great, now missing in action poster column One Sheet Wonders. Or if I was feeling really productive, I’d rip off the idea the guys came up with at IMPAWARDS.com. They’re the best poster site not devoted to selling movie posters, merely making sweet sweet love to new ones as soon as a jpeg of them can be massaged onto the internet to share with poster freaks like me.

Well, each year they award the Best, Worst, and Funniest in movie posters and they’ve now released their nominees for 2004. They’ve a host of categories, but the only one that matters most is BEST MOVIE POSTER. Some of their choices are great… the poster for Love Song for Bobby Long, The Aviator, and one of the teaser posters for Spider-Man 2. But others seem a little strange. The Tom Cruise Collateral poster is in this nominating class, a shame since it’s just another shot of Tom in profile. Oh look , he has a gun. Odder still is their nominating of the poster for Kill Bill Volume 2. They’ve nominated the wrong one! Rather than nominate the beautiful Bride poster (to the right of this story) they’ve gone and nominated that crappy poster of a sword through the Bride’s list. You missed the boat on that one guys. This Kill Bill Volume 2 Bride poster would have been my pick as the year’s best.

Just because I love looking at them, I've uploaded all the posters nominated by IMPAWARDS.com for Best Movie Poster below. Click here to drive by there and look at their other awards categories, then keep coming back here for an update on when they declare their winners.
