MOVIE NEWS
Potter Not Rated PG I’m actually a little disappointed in this, though I realize most Harry Potter fans are not. Warner Brothers has just announced that Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire has received a PG-13 rating for "Sequences of fantasy violence and frightening images."
The previous three Potter films were all decidedly PG, but now it seems the film’s are growing up along with the cast. I wonder if this means that when they turn 17 the series will go Showgirls and sport an NC-17? We can only hope. But really, I find this a little disheartening. Adult fantasy fans have already had their for more mature audiences movies in Lord of the Rings. There’s something nice about having a quality, family friendly series of films like Harry Potter front and center in theaters. It’s better than having to take your kids to Hillary Duff. Now, it sounds like WB is ready to toss that aside and pander to the generic, stupid, teenager set like everyone else. I’m sure you Potter nuts are ready to make a case for the subject matter demanding it… but here’s something the Potter fan community frequently forgets while wading through all their sickeningly disturbing Harry/Hermione erotic fan fiction: These books are for kids!!! The movies should be too. |
