It’s hard to imagine that Predators is still on track to hit theaters on July 7th, 2010 when we’ve heard little to nothing in terms of casting. Danny Trejo recently slipped and told Punch Drunk Critics he’s shooting Predators soon, but there’s been no confirmation on his casting. On the other hand, Coming Soon has gotten word that Walton Goggins of the FX show The Shield has been officially added to the roster.
According to Latino Review’s first look at Robert Rodriguez’s script, the film will involve especially deadly humans being abducted and taken to the predators’ home plant. The lead character, Royce, and seven other individuals are thrown into the alien jungle and engage in a game of cat and mouse with the predators using them as prey.
There’s no word concerning which character Goggins will play, but if you go by Latino Review’s piece and process of elimination he could be playing Royce, a San Quentin prisoner named Stans or Edwin, a member of the FBI’s most wanted list. Rumor has it that Trejo is playing the character Cuchillo, the muscle of a Mexican drug cartel who wields two Uzis.
This script definitely sounds like it has potential and with Nimrod Antal – who scarred me for life with Vacancy - behind the lens, we could certainly have a summer blockbuster on our hands.
