Premium Rush Blu-ray Bonus Clip Shows The Dangers Of Bicycle Stunts
Premium Rush, an action film that took the startling viewpoint of a bike messenger delivering one important package, is coming to Blu-ray and DVD on December 21, in a release that will hit the market just in time for anyone looking for a last-minute holiday gift. Now, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has made a special Blu-ray bonus clip available, so fans can take a peek at some behind-the-scenes footage from the film.
The dangerous bicycle scenes, often shot in live traffic, were really important to maintain the integrity of the film, as well as to amp up the action. Most of the actors were injured in some way, even if they didn’t do some of the biggest stunts—the bonus clip even illuminates an accident Premium Rush’s lead Joseph Gordon-Levitt got into that led to the hospital and 31 stitches. Bikes may not seem as cool as action movies with motorcycle or car stunts, but some of the everyday work on the set is definitely more dangerous for the actors.
Premium Rush’s Blu-ray and DVD release will be momentously low on bonus features, and will only come with two featurettes. The first is “The Starting Line,” which will hone in and spend some time with each of the major players in the main cast and the second is “Behind The Wheels,” which takes a look at the action, stunts, and chases. So, besides a few perks, if you decide to purchase this one, it will mostly be for the film quality. Of course, I won’t judge you if you buy it on the merits of Gordon-Levitt, alone.
