Prometheus 2 Hires Green Lantern Screenwriter, Multiple Michael Fassbenders Rumored
Ridley Scott's Prometheus wasn't exactly the movie we were all hoping it would be, getting a less-than-stellar response from critics and ultimately failing to make back its budget at the domestic box office, but thanks to a solid performance overseas a Prometheus 2 has been pretty much guaranteed. While it hasn't been made official yet, it's rumored that the Untitled Ridley Scott Project that 20th Century Fox has set to come out on March 2016 will be a follow-up to the director's most recent space epic, and now news has come that the studio has found someone to pen a new script for the project. According to The Wrap, screenwriter Michael Green has come aboard to do a rewrite of the existing draft that was put together by Transcendence writer Jack Paglen.
In addition to being a continuation of the story that we saw established in the first movie, Prometheus 2 is reportedly being restructured to be more "alien-y" and have a tone that fits closer with the rest of the franchise. What's more, sources say that the film will feature multiple "David" androids, which means that Michael Fassbender will be working overtime on the project (which is great considering he was easily the best part of the first movie). There are currently no details available about the story, but presumably the plot will follow Dr. Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) as she travels on the Engineer spacecraft towards the alien's homeworld - as seen in the final moments of the last movie.
Prometheus 2 may be his latest feature project, but Green has spent most of his career on the small screen to this point, both producing and writing on shows like Smallville, Everwood, and Heroes, but he got his first taste of the big screen when he "helped" a classic DC Comics character finally make his way to the big screen:
While Green Lantern isn't exactly a credit that will get a lot of people excited, it's also worth mentioning that the screenwriter has had some experience working with Ridley Scott already. In late May of last year it was announced that he had been hired to work on the developing Blade Runner sequel. We haven't heard an update on that project in quite a long time, but presumably Green and Scott had a good experience working together. A good sign for Prometheus 2?
