Public Radio Goes To The Movies

Public Radio Goes To The Movies The last time This American Life Ira Glass agreed to produce a movie based on a segment from his show, it turned a touching story about children of divorce into the unremarkable kids movie Unaccompanied Minors. But the public radio heartthrob is willing to give the movie biz another shot, and will lend a hand to a movie adaptation of the short story "Wenceslas Square," which aired on the show last summer.

The story is about as different from the Unaccompanied Minors one as you can get, a fictional account of two spies who fall in love while participating in separate missions. Variety writes that it will be the first film produced by This American Life itself, teaming up with Endgame Entertainment. Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, who wrote the first two Chronicles of Narnia films, are writing the screenplay.

Glass is truly gifted at creating his radio show, and at picking exceptional stories to air. It's a talent that would probably make him a great studio exec, but in the interest of keeping him on the radio forever, it's probably best that he just keep randomly dabbling in movies instead.
