Puff Daddy will be trying his hand at "acting" this September in the upcoming, slightly theater released but probably mostly straight to video movie Carlito's Way: Rise to Power. It's not exactly a sequel to Carlito's Way, but apparently someone thought it was such a ridiculously powerful brand name they should attach this movie to it. Because people are really dying for more Carlito's Way. I know that's all I've been talking about.

The original 1993 Carlito's Way starred Al Pacino, Sean Penn, Luis Guzman and Penelope Anne Miller (Where did she disappear to?). This movie, which I guess is some sort of prequel has Luis Guzman returning, and adds Mario Van Peebles and Puff Daddy. You may have seen it advertised on those pre-show commercials a lot of theaters are running now before the movie. Or you may have seen it in your nightmares, assuming you're some sort of obsessive Carlito's Way fan. Frankly, I'd forgotten Carlito's Way ever even existed.

Well, we've got the "official" poster for the film, which I'm told will debut at exclusive in-theater promotional screenings in September. No, I don't know what that means. I think it means straight to video, but I'm just guessing. Enjoy the poster.
