Quartet Of Hilarious Ladies Have Paul Rudd As An Idiot Brother![]()
It's good enough that Paul Rudd gets to continue starring in movies and being awesome, as he undoubtedly will be in My Idiot Brother, the project announced last week. It's even better than Rudd will be joined in the movie by a quartet of some seriously funny ladies. THR reports that Elizabeth Banks, Zooey Deschanel, Emily Mortimer and Rashida Jones have all joined the cast of the film, which starts filming next month in New York.
Rudd's character is a slacker and an idealist who finds himself crashing with his three sisters while running away from his overbearing mom; Banks, Deschanel and Mortimer play the sisters, who are all as different as can be. Banks is a career journalist on the verge of her big break, Deschanel a flake having trouble with her girlfriend (Jones), and Mortimer a classic New York type-- the Park Slope mom obsessed with having the perfect family. Many of you are probably already fixated on the idea of Deschanel and Jones in a lesbian relationship, and yeah, that part's pretty cool. But I like the notion that each of these actresses, all of them funny and frequently underused, will get a chance to shine opposite Rudd, who's never been afraid to let his co-stars be funny too. And hey, if Mortimer's character lives in Park Slope, they may be filming in my neighborhood! I'll keep you posted as I stalk-- er, observe-- the set. |
