Rachel Weisz In Sin City 2

Almost since the first Sin City debuted back in 2005, it’s been pretty clear that Robert Rodriguez has wanted Angelina Jolie as the star of the sequel Sin City 2: A Dame To Kill For. Somehow though, Jolie just hasn’t been able to fit it into her schedule. Now, after a lot of delays on the project, it looks like she may have been replaced.

A source claiming to be close to the production contacted me tonight to let us know that Angelina Jolie is out, and Rachel Weisz is in. Our source, who asked to remain anonymous, says that Rachel is in talks with Robert Rodriguez's people about taking on the role of Ava Lord, the titular “Dame to Kill For” in the original comic on which Sin City 2 is going to be based. If she gets locked in, rumor has it that Sin City 2 will finally start shooting in 2008.

Now a disclaimer. I hate anonymous sources as much as anyone else. Don’t rely on them, I don’t. Please take the above as nothing more than a wild and completely unsubstantiated rumor until we can find some less anonymous confirmation.

As for Rachel Weisz, Sin City 2 definitely sounds like the kind of movie she’d be interested in. In that sense the rumor works. But I have hard time picturing her as a dame to kill for. I love Rachel Weisz, she’s a brilliant and beautiful actress, but she’s not exactly the same type of smoking hot bombshell you’d get in Angelina Jolie. If you’re looking for someone to play a woman so hot men kill for her, you look for a more smoldering beauty. Scarlett Johansson maybe.

But that doesn’t mean Robert Rodriguez won’t cast her anyway. We’ll keep an eye out for more information on this rumor as it develops.

Well Angelina Jolie does think Frank Miller is a genius. She loved Sin City and the Graphic Novels. But as moxt people know Angelina has alot of roles to fill in, and may take a while if she were to play as Ava Lord. I think Rachel Weisz is perfect for the role, seeing that her hair is always regulary not too long. And i think she can play the role great.
Scarlett Johansen is alredy in a new movie called the spirit. Which is made by the same people who did sin city and 300. The film the spirit looks like the same effects as sin city, though it is of the same makers.

Not kill for Rachel Weisz, but for Angelina? Never would I kill for her, she may have the looks of a pycho. But the fact that matters is that Rachel is a remake of a old hollywood actress. She has class and style and would be a perfect fit in most roles. just cause she doesn't kiss her brother or kept blood from bad santa around her neck. doesn't mean she is hot or sexy, just creepy.

Judging by her acting talent and her picture above, I say that Rachel Weisz is a shapeshifter and can be easily Ava Lord. Angelina is not. Jolie will always be Jolie in all the movies she takes part.
I sense that the aura of sympathy that Weisz emits in "the fountain" will be aura of sexual attraction in "sin city 2". If she finally gets the role.
Acting is not only appearance.

Rachel Weisz would be great in the role. She has the acting chops, the beauty and the complexity to to the role justice.

Rachel Weisz would be a perfect Ava Lord. For one, she looks like the character and two, she has the acting chops to make her real. She's with out a doubt a much better choice for the role than Angelina Jolie.

Please, not Rachel Weisz. I just read 'A Dame to Kill For' this morning, and Mr. Weisz is simply not as hot as Ava Lord is meant to be. Angelina Jolie, yes, definetly. Or they could even bring back Carla Gugino, albeit as a different character. But not Weisz. And please, please, please, not Rose McGowen! I can't see how anyone finds her attrative. She looks like she has slight case of Mongolism. Better to find a complete unknown. Or what about that chick from 'Species'?

You can only wait but so long for Angelina Jolie and i'm not surprise that the production got sick of waiting for her. Rachel Weisz is a great choice for the role and i think she will be amazing in it.

I think this is true, it has been almost two years since the first film and Angelina Jolie has been dragging her feet to sigh. Not only is casting Rachel Weisz a great step in the right direction but hopefully, the film would now get finally get made.

seems kind of unreliable. first its a source and not the actual compnay nor director syaing this...so that alone lends you to be wary...The scheduling conflict thing is so luahgable..b/c if you had looked at Rachels schedule she is signed up all the way thru the end of 2008 and she is signed up for twice the amount of movies. Angelina has finished filming two of the movies and is free-- the other two are in post production and doesn't have a cast yet..so that alone shows you its not a scheduling conflict..
Make no mistake about it Robert rodriguez wants Angelina for the role...It wont work with anyone else...no one has her fierceness...or her tenacity..thats why Rosario and the cast were thrilled that she was thinking of taking on the role...

Would the writer please take a look at the picture given with this article and somehow explain how Angelina Jolie's squinty-eyed, sour-lipped, a-symmetrical face and bony arms can somehow be more "smoking"?

I think this is good news, I never really thought Angelina was all that excited about being in Sin City 2. I think Rachel would be a great replacement, but Scarlett would be even better :D :D :D

OMG! i agreed with the editor that Angelina is smokin hot and smokin sexy for this role and perfect for this role! i too a fan of rachel weisz, but can't see in this role. scarlett johanson, she is beautiful, but not "smokin" hot!!!
