Radagast Is In And Other Hobbit Casting Revelations![]()
Till now nobody has really had any idea who Peter Jackson and Guillermo del Toro might cast to play the lead in The Hobbit. What’s surprising is that, apparently, they have no idea either.
A site called SpoilerTV has posted what they claim is a casting call for the new Hobbit movies (unless you count Gandalf's moth). A casting call is a description of what kinds of actors the filmmakers are looking for, in each of the movie’s available roles. Almost every major role is, it would seem, still up for grabs. The casting sheet contains specific requirements for everyone from Bilbo to Smaug. I guess that makes sense since they’ve been working on the script, still I think many half-expected that at the least, they already had their Bilbo picked and were simply waiting to spring him on us. Not so. Interestingly, the casting sheet seems to confirm they’ll work in Radagast the Brown, the other wizard of Middle Earth who appears briefly in the Lord of the Rings books but never actually made it into the movie. Strangely, he’s not actually in “The Hobbit”, only mentioned in passing. But if this casting sheet is legit, it appears he will indeed be in the movie. Check out the casting descriptions for Bilbo, Smaug, and Radagase below. Click over to SpoilerTV for the rest, including Gimli’s father Gloin. [BILBO] A well-to-do, respectable Hobbit.... Although he doesn’t realize it himself, BILBO has a good deal of courage; he can be practical and resilient. He has a good sense of humour, and is able to appreciate the ridiculous. He is very quick on the uptake and is well read having been encouraged to read widely by his mother. The most distinguishing characteristic about BILBO is his humanity; he is empathetic with a big heart and generous spirit. LEAD. AGE: 25-35. ACCENT – STANDARD R.P. UPDATE! The One Ring checked with their sources and claims the casting call is a fake. More info as we get it. |
