Raimi May Ditch Spidey For Hobbit

Raimi May Ditch Spidey For Hobbit Spider-Man made over 800,000,000 million dollars world wide. The sequel was almost universally acclaimed, and I don’t know one person under the age of forty that didn’t like it. Except me. In fact, saying I disliked it is a colossal understatement akin to Lenin telling people he wasn’t a fan of capitalism. To this day, it is the only film I have ever walked out of. So ordinarily, rumors of the web-shooting superhero tend to bounce out of my consciousness as quickly as they briefly appear, but not this one.

Sam Raimi is a god. He’s my savior, and my prayers go directly to his alter. Sure, he may have let me down with the whole big budget get-rich-scheme, but the man still made The Evil Dead! How could I ever lose confidence in him? Last year, Cinema Blend ran a rumor on the director’s possible exodus out of Peter Parker land and into Middle-Earth. After a few months of silence, the Hobbit rumblings seem to be heating back up.

Entertainment Weekly has revealed some details from their soon to be released interview with the horror movie pioneer. Apparently, Raimi is interested in helming The Hobbit even if that means absconding from the fourth installment of Spidey. This is all made worse by the persistent Tobey Maguire bailing chatter. Kirsten Dunst is also on recording as saying she has no interest in returning if both Spider-Man himself and her beloved director aren’t back.

It should be noted that eight-legged avenger fanboys shouldn’t begin crying into their Peter Parker 8x10s yet. This is just a little beauty-parlor gossip, some phenomenal beauty-parlor gossip. There’s no doubt that episode four will be made; however, it’s becoming increasingly speculative as to who will star. Here’s to hoping Phil Margera ends up in the shiny red suit.
