Ralph Fiennes Invades His Own City In First Trailer For Coriolanus
Ralph Fiennes really creeps me out. While I'm sure that he's an absolutely lovely person and he's most definitely an incredibly skilled actor, roles like Amon Goeth in Schindler's List, Francis Dolarhyde in Red Dragon and even Voldemort in the Harry Potter movies have seeped into my subconscious and colored my perception of him. He has more than a few hero roles to his name as well, but when he plays a villain, you remember it forever. As a result I'm incredibly curious to see what he does as the dark hero in his directorial debut, Coriolanus.
Based on the Shakespeare tragedy, the new film set in the modern day where the General Caius Martius Coriolanus (Fiennes) has earned the rage of his people and is labeled as a traitor. Banished from his home, he forms an alliance with his sworn enemy Tullus Aufidius (Gerard Butler) and takes vengeance by invading his own country. Written by John Logan (Gladiator, The Last Samurai, The Aviator), the film also stars Brian Cox, Vanessa Redgrave, and Jessica Chastain. Check out the trailer below and see it in HD over on IMDb. |
