Rango Super Bowl Spot Arrives Three Days Early
Come this Sunday, the football players of Green Bay and Pittsburgh will be feeling a lot of pressure, but so will many of the major movie studios. As announced two weeks ago, the Super Bowl is going to be the home of fourteen new trailers. One of those titles is the new Gore Verbinski film Rango, but it won't be the premiere.
Trailer Addict has released the 30 second for the animated movie that will be shown during one of the thousands of commercial breaks of the big game. In the film, Johnny Depp voices Rango, a chameleon who is abandoned by his owners in the middle of the desert. Trying to survive, he finds himself in a western town and is given the duty of getting rid of the local bandits.
Check out the trailer below.
As much as I liked this short trailer, I really am curious how the general audience is going to react to it. The whole thing is so self-consciously weird that I have to imagine some people will be turned off by it. On the other hand, the detail of the animation, done by Industrial Light & Magic, is absolutely brilliant. When you're sitting around the TV with all of your family and friends and this trailer comes on, feel free to leave a note in the comments section about their reactions - that is unless everyone in the room decides to go into the kitchen for some more chips and dip.
