Ratner Rumored For X-Men Spin-Off![]()
If X-Men 3 ends up as bad as some of us fear, it probably won't be because of Brett Ratner. It'll probably be the lousy script. So don't X-Fans shouldn't despair when they hear this latest rumor: X-Men 3 and Rush Hour director Brett Ratner may be up for the directing gig on the X-Men spin-off movie Wolverine.
The rumor comes courtesy of MTV and Vinnie Jones, who seems to spend an awful lot of time talking about a movie that by all accounts, he has little more than a large cameo role in. Vinnie plays Juggernaut in X-Men: The Last Stand, and says about the film, "Brett was saying that they'll probably use a lot of the characters." Which ones? Not so surprisingly, it's all about Vinnie. "Hopefully the Wolverine/ Juggernaut rivalry will come into it," he suggests. I maintain that Ratner is not a terrible director. He's a solid action director and knows how to make a decent popcorn flick. I'm not sure I understand his obsession with the overrated Vinnie Jones, but whether or not Vinnie is in the movie is kind of irrelevant. What this does tell you, if true, is that the Wolverine movie is probably just going to be a big effects, spectacle flick. Those of you who might have been hoping the spin-off would take a heavier, more dramatic direction can forget it. Enjoy the big budget fight scenes. There's nothing wrong with that. |
