We have a winner! A few months ago, Cinema Blend asked its readers to send in official guesses on when the one millionth film about a coach helping a group of misfits while learning something in the process would get greenlit. Today, Disney announced its intentions to go ahead with the family comedy Pool Rats making Adam Hirsch our big winner. Mr. Hirsch will receive a prize package including free rentals of Remember The Titans, The Bad News Bears, The Big Green and a 10 dollar gift certificate toward a trip to the place where Hoosiers was filmed. Congratulations!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Pool Rats is the story of some guy who takes over a neighborhood league swimming team. He soon builds a strong bond with the little Mark Spitz wannabees, and that special summer changes everyone’s lives forever. With a special message like that, I don’t know how I can possibly resist forking over eight dollars for this steaming pile of emotional load.

Andy Fickman will produce and co-write the screenplay along with Nichole Millard and Kathryn Price. In case you were wondering, yes, I only mentioned this because Nicole seems to spell her name with an “H.” That’s just bad parenting right there.
