Razzie Awards Crap All Over Movie 43, After Earth
After Earth and Movie 43 might have earned the titles of "Worst" movies of the year – thanks to receiving "honors" at the Razzies on Saturday evening – but the big "story" (I’ll stop with the quotation marks, I promise) is the complete shutout of Adam Sandler’s atrocious Grown Ups 2 at the event.
Wait, does that mean that Sandler’s sequel is actually good?
Let’s not get carried away, though EW.com does note that Sandler’s sequel, directed by Dennis Dugan, avoided picking up any Razzies despite racking up the most nominations across the entire field. How does a film DOMINATE the nominations, then lay a goose egg on "wins?" Shoot, more quotation marks. It’s hard not to use them when talking about the Razzies!
Anyway, the winners on the evening at the 34th annual Razzie Awards were:
There were 19 screenwriters credited to Movie 43?! See, you learn something every day on this site… even if it has you scratching your head in disbelief.
The Razzies might as well be called the Easy Target Awards. Any time a Kardashian wins something, you are just begging for a headline, and not really commenting on the craft – or lack thereof – associated with the art of movie making. Tyler Perry takes an annual beating from the Razzies. And this year, the mega-powerful Smith family received the abuse normally reserved for Sandler and his crew.
Don’t take this lying down, Sandler. Make it your mission to get the band back together for a third Grown Ups. You can’t get shut out at the Razzies. That’s embarrassing. Make a movie so disgusting, they can’t ignore it. Get Rob Schneider back into the fold. He’s sure to reduce your film’s quality by 50 percent. Don’t be satisfied with just Taylor Lautner. Make sure he brings Robert Pattinson AND Kristen Stewart to GU3. We know you are ready to sweep the Razzies again, Adam. Maybe with Blended. Our hopes are "high." Dammit… one last time.
