Real-Life Couple Jason Sudeikis And Olivia Wilde Team Up For Rom-Com Relanxious
Usually when you're a new couple in Hollywood trying to stay under the radar, you do your best to avoid being seen together, or opening yourself up to invasive questions about the relationship. And yet widely rumored couple Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis are doing pretty much the opposite of that, agreeing to star together in Relanxious, a comedy about an anxious woman and an agoraphobic man who strike up a relationship over the phone. According to Deadline they'll also be joined by 21 Jump Street's Brie Larson, playing the sister of Wilde's character, and Fred Armisen, stepping in as a friend to Sudeikis.
The movie will be the directorial debut of Christopher Storer, a writer whose only feature-length credit on IMDB is a still-unreleased comedy called Sin Bin, which makes it mighty hard to judge how he'll tackle this material. But with a cast this strong, it's hard not to have at least a little initial faith in it, especially if you're a fan, as I am, of watching real-life couples try to spark onscreen. Since Wilde and Sudeikis will presumably spend most of the film apart, kept on the phone by his fear of people, it won't feel quite as voyeuristic as it would if they had a ton of bedroom scenes together. And yet, it never gets old watching two people who have fallen for each other in real life try to fake it onscreen. I can't be the only one who loves that, right?
Relanxious-- a truly terrible title, by the way-- will shoot in Chicago this summer.
