Black Death is the story of how in a world torn apart by the bubonic plague, one village manages to keep the disease at bay by dealing with demons. Sent to investigate the village is a band of “holy warriors” tasked with bringing the solution back to their civilized world.

This trailer doesn’t try to sugar coat the situation. It’s a movie about the black plague and it doesn’t try to hide it, as made perfectly clear by the first image of a mechanism that will “split a man from his asshole to his apple.” And rest assured you will see that happen at least once in conjunction with many other horrible deaths that will occur both at the hand of man and at the hand of the plague.

It looks grotesque and I can’t wait. Plus, who doesn’t love a healthy dose of Sean Bean? The film is from director Christopher Smith who helmed 2006’s classic horror/comedy Severance, one of the better films to enter the genre.
