It’s been two months since we’ve heard any casting details for Catherine Hardwicke’s Red Riding Hood, but that doesn’t mean the roster is closed. Variety is reporting that yet another actor has been added to the Warner Bros. production and that actor is Lukas Hass.

The film is being described as a “gothic horror re-imagining” and stars Amanda Seyfried as the titular character, but a wolf isn’t the only thing she’s got to worry about-- Seyfried’s character is caught in the midst of a love triangle. She’s engaged to a guy played by Max Irons, but also has a thing for Shiloh Fernandez’s character, an orphaned woodcutter. Then there’s Julie Christie as Red Riding Hood’s grandmother and Gary Oldman as Father Solomon, the guy in charge of finding and killing that pesky wolf. Haas is on board to play the village priest.

It’s difficult to comment on Haas’ casting considering the only film I can really remember him in is in Mars Attacks. The guy’s been at it in front of the camera for quite a while, so he’s got to be packing some serious talent. I’ll have to keep a close eye on his performance in Inception to get a better sense of what he’s capable of. The Red Riding Hood ensemble as a whole is really promising, now we’ve just got to hope this classic fairytale with a twist thing can work. My hopes are high.
