Renee Zellweger To Produce Pillage![]()
One of the easiest ways to breathe life into a movie is by including a party scene. It allows the film to be creative with the soundtrack, gets all of the principals together for some witty banter and allows for some eccentric ancillary characters to walk in, do something crazy and leave before they get boring. It's why so many films and television shows have plots involving the quest to find the perfect party, and now there will be a new one.
Variety reports that Renee Zellweger will be producing Pillage, a film about four New Yorkers who decide to take a break from their humdrum lives and go into downtown Manhattan in search of the perfect party. Based on the book of the same name by Brantly Martin, the film is being scripted by John Krokidas and will be shooting in New York City in the first half of next year. It's a little worrying that the plot line given in the article sounds nothing like the description of the source material, which an editorial review on Amazon calls "The love child of Charles Bukowski and Bret Easton Ellis." The novel sounds more like a satire on the level of American Psycho, with plenty of booze and drugs to go around, rather than a version of Superbad or House Party. To sum it up, the cover of the book has a stuffed donkey attached to an IV. If the movie sticks close to the book, this might be one to anticipate. |
