Most guys would be quick to shy away from being known as The Flash, but the name holds no terror for Blade: Trinity star Ryan Reynolds. Reynolds is the top contender to play the speedy red DC Comics superhero, should someone get around to greenlighting the film currently being pitched by screenwriter (some people would use the word cum here… I hate that) turned director David Goyer.

In fact, according to ComingSoon.net, in an interview to promote his upcoming film, The Amityville Horror, Reynolds has all but declared himself the world’s fastest man. Reynolds claims to have met with Goyer, and confirms that if Goyer can get Warner Brothers to shell out cash for yet another superhero project, “I am the Flash."

As much as I love Flash, the problem for me here is that Goyer is committed to writing, directing, and producing the film. Ruining Blade: Trinity gave me more than my fill of David Goyer in the director’s chair. But if we’re going to make movies about Elektra, then why not Flash. He fits nicely into a second tier of superhero popularity, right below world famous staples like Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, and the X-Men. Throw him in alongside The Fantastic Four and hope his movie doesn’t get schooled by The Incredibles. Reynolds is a perfect fit for the character, why not give him a shot.
