Ricky Gervais Is Bringing The Office's David Brent To The Big Screen

David Brent will return! Again! Ricky Gervais is bringing his beloved, oblivious The Office character to the big screen, courtesy of BBC Films. The film will be titled Life on the Road and it's expected to start filming in the U.K. in 2015.

Digital Spy states that this news was confirmed in a press release, noting that the movie will reveal what's going on with the former Wernham Hogg manager in the years following his dismissal. Pause for a dance gif...

Fifteen years later, David Brent is on a self-funded U.K. tour, and his life is once again being filmed. It'll be set up as a "where are they now" documentary, which follows Brent's efforts to fund his recording sessions, as ticket sales for his band aren't cutting it.

In the present day, David Brent is a sales rep now, "selling cleaning products up and down the country, but has never really given up his dream of being a rock star."

That premise lines up with the update we received on the character last year, when Ricky Gervais brought Brent back for a ten-minute YouTube video, which showed him peddling his cleaning products and working alongside a young musician who was somehow convinced that Brent could help him get his career off the ground.

Gervais followed the above video up with some David Brent video guitar lessons, for those in search of more musical wisdom from the salesman. Prior to that, the character briefly dropped in at Dunder Mifflin for a run-in with Michael Scott in The Office. So this film won't be the first we've seen of David Brent since the original Office series ended, but it'll certainly be the biggest comeback for the character to date.

Gervais has already made it clear that this is not an Office movie:
