Rise Of The Apes Retitled Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes![]()
There is only one reason why a prequel to Planet of the Apes is coming out this summer: people know what Planet of the Apes is and the studio wants to capitalize on a known brand. Unfortunately, though, it would seem that some people couldn't make the connection between Rise of the Apes and Planet of the Apes, so Fox has decided to rename it.
ComicBookMovie has learned that after testing the title of the film, 20th Century Fox has decided to retitle the prequel, which will now be called Rise of the Planet of the Apes. SlashFilm has since confirmed the title change with the studio. This is not the first time that the project has undergone a name change, having previously been titled Caesar and Caesar: Rise of the Apes. Directed by Rupert Wyatt, the film stars James Franco, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow, Tom Felton, Andy Serkis and Brian Cox and will be released on August 5. Wow. Move over, Transformers: Dark of the Moon and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, we now have a new challenger for Worst Title of 2011. How the hell did this get through so many levels without someone pointing out that it says "of the" twice? Did people really think that this was the best choice? I truly hope not. |
