As we noted back in May, Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher are going to star in a movie called What Happens in Vegas…. But because no one would watch a movie with just those two, some co-stars have been hired. The Hollywood Reporter says those co-stars are Rob Corddry, who I have actually heard of, and Lake Bell, who I have actually not.

Diaz and Kutcher play strangers who meet in Vegas and get hammered, waking up married to each other. That sounds like that episode of “Friends.” They also find out that one of them won a huge jackpot using the other’s quarter. That sounds like something I’ve seen also. While doing all this stuff, they each have a best friend and those friends will be Corddry and Lake. They won’t be friends with them in real life, obviously, just the movie. Corddry is a very funny guy from “The Daily Show” but Unaccompanied Minors proves that a movie isn’t funny just because he’s in it.

What Happens in Vegas… is that funny catch phrase from the Vegas commercials. So this is like someone making a movie called Got Milk? The whole thing was the idea of writer Dana Fox who previously wrote The Wedding Date which everyone agrees was pretty lousy. Hopefully she does better with recycled “Friends” material.
