Rob Corddry, Rob Huebel And Thomas Lennon Sign On For Rapturepalooza
This past weekend I spent a solid chunk of time watching episodes of Party Down, the cancelled-far-too-soon series starring Adam Scott and Lizzy Caplan. In addition to the impeccable writing and the amazing characters, one thing that I really loved about the show was that each episode featured a special guest star that most people would only recognize as "that guy/girl from that thing," which fit in perfectly with the show's motif. Three perfect examples of this were appearances by Rob Corddry, Rob Huebel and Thomas Lennon, all of whom have just been cast in the same movie.
Variety reports that Corddry, Huebel and Lennon have all signed on for Rapturepalooza, a biblical-themed comedy starring Craig Robinson, Anna Kendrick and John Francis Daley. Though original reports about the project said that it would center on a married couple trying to make a living during the apocalypse, the new story says that Kendrick and Francis will play "smart-mouthed teens" who venture out to defeat the Antichrist, played by Robinson. While the roles played by Huebel and Lennon are unspecified, Corddry will play Daley's dad, who works as part of the Antichrist's security force.
While none of the cast members have extreme star power that will make the film a $100 million blockbuster, Rapturepalooza seems to be getting a lot of attention from a lot of funny people, which can only be a good sign. If the film proves to be as funny as the cast is talented, we could be witnessing the birth of a cult classic.
