Robert Downey Jr. is set to make music with Jamie Foxx, once he finishes blowing up bad guys from within his suite of armor for Iron Man that is. Variety reports that he’s joined the cast of The Soloist.

The film is based on a series of articles by a Los Angeles Times writer about homeless, schizo musician who dreams of playing at Walt Disney Concert Hall. Presumably between this crazy homeless guy and all the others is that in addition to lunatic fever-dreams he also has musical talent. If not, it’s going to be a long and unfulfilling movie.

Since I can’t remember whether Robert Downey can sing, I’m going to go ahead and assume that Jamie Foxx is playing the musically inclined homeless dude and that Robert Downey is playing someone else. RDJ makes a pretty good reporter, maybe he’ll be a stand-in for the LA Times writer who exploited a homeless guy to make headlines.
