Robert Downey is negotiating to star in the coolest movie idea this side of Iron Man. HR says he’s considering the starring role in the DreamWorks/Universal Pictures movie Cowboys & Aliens.
The name really says it all. Yes, that’s really what it’s about. Cowboys & Aliens is based on a graphic novel in which aliens land in the 1800s, interrupting a shoot out between a bunch of cowboys and Apache Indians. The aliens decide to take over the old west and make everyone their slave, so the cowboys and Indians team up to fight them. Even without Robert Downey Jr., this is a must see. With him, it’s just rocketed up to near the top of my most anticipated movies list. Downey is brilliant and the concept is a pulpy kind of genius.
