When I think about Sherlock Holmes, a few things spring to mind: Deerstalker hats, calabash pipes, and astounding intellect. While the character did carry a pistol, it was rarely used, as the character would more often than not participate in hand-to-hand. From the look of the two new posters for Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, the sequel to Guy Ritchie's 2009 winter blockbuster, it looks as though guns will have a more significant role this time around.

Digital Spy has received character banners featuring Holmes (Robert Downey Jr.) and Watson (Jude Law) brandishing two pretty major weapons. Check out the posters below and see them full size over at the source.





Picking up where the last film left off, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows features the first run in that our two heroes have with their ultimate nemesis, Professor Moriarty, played by Jared Harris. The cast also inlcudes newcomers Noomi Rapace and Stephen Fry and sees the return of Kelly Reilly and Eddie Marsan. The film is set to hit theaters on December 16th.
