“World’s Greatest Dad” is the kind of cheesy slogan you’re used to seeing on T-shirts, be they genuine or the kind of ironic thing the kids are wearing these days. But Robin Williams will probably give the phrase whole new meaning in the movie World’s Greatest Dad, which is definitely not the kind of thing you take the whole family to see. That is, unless your family is in to movies about suicide and autoerotic asphyxiation. Yeah, that’s what I thought.

Variety says that Williams will have the lead role, a father who finds his son dead as a result of “an apparent autoerotic accident.” Wanting to let his son die with dignity, Williams’ character fakes a suicide note, which somehow gets leaked to the school paper. The movie is written and will be directed by Bobcat Goldthwait, who has previously made movies about things like having sex with dogs and a clown who gets drunk all the time, not to mention many episode of Chappelle’s Show. Suffice it to say the guy can come up with some crazy stuff, and it promises to be fun to see what he and Williams do together. Don’t be like Eddie Murphy, Robin—dare to do something off-the-wall like this, and you’ll at least continue earning our respect.
