Role In Will Ferrell Movie: $47,100![]()
I’ve always said Will Ferrell’s comedies are written for ten-year-old boys. Now it looks like the parts are too. The anonymous ten-year-old son of an anonymous Texan will appear in Ferrell’s next movie, Step Brothers. No, casting hasn’t gotten that random. The Dallas, Texas man is the winner of a charity auction held by Ferrell. The winner got a part in the movie.
The Hollywood Reporter reports the winning bid was $47,100 which goes to the Cancer for College foundation run by a fraternity brother of Ferrells, Craig Pollard. It’s quite a step up from the opening bid of $5,000, which, frankly, was quite a generous start. While the winner wishes to stay anonymous, he did reveal his reasons for bidding so heartily: ”Winning this auction means a lot to me on a very personal basis. I lost my mother to ovarian cancer a few years ago so I feel fortunate that my 10-year-old and I are able to participate in an event involving Cancer for College and Will Ferrell. It's a great opportunity for him to both hang out with 'Ricky Bobby' and learn a valuable life lesson -- that it's important to help people who need help by whatever means you are able to do so, whether that's monetarily or by giving your time." The money will go to college scholarships for current and former cancer patients. Since 1993, the charity has given over $200,000 in scholarship money to 50 cancer survivors. |
