Roman Coppola is the son of legendary director Francis Ford Coppola, but he's quite the filmmaker in his own right. In 2001, Roman wrote and directed his first feature CQ, a throwback to the grooviest of cinema from the 1960s specifically Danger: Diabolik. Though it has been a decade since Roman directed CQ, he also Roman co-wrote the script for The Darjeeling Limited along with director Wes Anderson and is currently co-writing Anderson’s new project Moonrise Kingdom. He also served as the second unit director on several of his sister Sofia's films, a renowned independent filmmaker herself, including Lost in Translation and Marie Antoinette. He did the same for his father's latest film Youth Without Youth. Now indieWire is reporting that Roman finally has a new film of his own in the works entitled A Glimpse Inside The Mind of Charles Swan III for which he reportedly also wrote the screenplay, according to The Playlist.

So here's the big question: who is Charles Swan III? Doing a bit of research, I came across this website for an avant-garde artist bearing that name specializing in human sexuality. Working in mediums such as paint and video production, Swan created wild, surreal images of nudes as well as representations of love acts which seem to be compiled into a project called Sex City. I also came across these Youtube clips purporting to be examples of his work. Be advised, these are definitely NSFW.



This next clip is far more colorful…and even less safe for work.



Call me crass, but these clips grabbed my attention immediately and significantly increased my desire to see Roman’s new film. Sure, it's entirely possible that the film’s title could be a reference to a different person of the same name. We can only really speculate at this point. But it seems they’d be hard-pressed to find a more interesting Charles Swan III.
