Roman Polanski’s The Ghost Put On Hold![]()
I’m in the same camp as Stuart Wood on the Roman Polanski subject. It amazes me how all media across the board (journalists, bloggers, etc) have become apologists for the guy. Now don’t get me wrong, the dude has gone through a lot in his life. Holocaust. The murder of his wife. But I don’t understand how those things play into the fact that he committed a heinous crime. So if I lived through some other-dimension Mexican Holocaust, does that mean I’d be able to get away stuff like he did? I wish the media would focus its outrage on other cases where people you know…may NOT be guilty. The West Memphis Three, for instance. But I guess that’s too much to ask.
Anyway, thanks to his pending arrest and extradition, Polanski’s newest movie, The Ghost, has been put on hold. According to THR, the movie was in the final stages of editing but has yet to go through the other post-production stages (scoring, sound mixing, etc). The film is based on the novel of the same name by Robert Harris and has Pierce Brosnan playing a British political leader who hires a ghost writer (Ewan McGregor) to write his memoirs. The film has yet to pick up distribution in the US, although it does have distribution in other countries like Germany and France. But with his current legal troubles, it’s hard to say when we’ll ever get to see the movie. There’s always the chance Polanski’s staff can work on the movie while he’s away and get it out to an audience sooner rather than later, but I imagine he wants to work on the movie himself. But given the current public opinion, he may be able to do that sooner than we expect. |
