It's finally been given the greenlight. After many many years of trying to get his project off the ground, George A. Romero will being directing the fourth installment of his Night Of/Dawn Of/Day Of The Dead saga this October.

Land Of The Dead will continue the ongoing story of the undead slowly taking over the earth. This time round the dead have covered the planet and are beginning to evolve into more terrifying and intelligent creatures. The last dregs of humanity are contained within a walled-up city where the poor riot in the streets and the rich live in fortified skyscrapers. Presumably the climax will result in humanity's last stand.

Should prove interesting to see how Romero copes in a world full of new generation zombie movies including remakes of his own work.
