MOVIE NEWS
Romulans Attack Last week we brought you this story about the future of Star Trek. If you read it, you know that it’s not quite dead. Instead, they’re doing what every good franchise when the people in charge of it have lost all sense of direction does, they’re making a movie prequel.
Now comes a little more information on just what this prequel will be about and how they’ll work it so that they can pretend the current prequel Star Trek series “Enterprise” does not exist. According to the latest issue of Star Trek Communicator Magazine (known for its beautiful female readers) Berman is ready to drag out more from the Romulans… or rather he’ll tell us he’s going to do something with the Romulans and then replace them with scaly creatures known as Remulans or some such crap. It worked for Star Trek X… or not. But it seems that he wants the prequel to deal with the Earth/Romulan wars, a massive battle defined by a host of impossible communications problems. It was also when the Vulcan’s angry cousins came boiling over the Federation border and blasted their way right to Earth’s doorstep. No doubt Berman is wetting himself at the cgi and technobabble possibilities presented by huge space battles. I wonder if he’ll have the fleet wander around ineffectually while a lone ship faces all the invaders again? It’s the classic Ninja attack strategy in reverse. According to people who know these things, the Romulan War takes place six years after the current events taking place on TV’s soon to be cancelled "Enterprise", allowing for the sexy possibility of a cameo by T’Pol. ![]() Got questions? .
