Ron Howard Attached To Direct Superhero Movie 364![]()
"With great power comes great responsibility." This is the line that Uncle Ben says to Peter Parker that regularly motivates him to keep putting on the spandex and be Spider-Man, but it's understandable why he often feels the urge to just give it all up. It's not easy balancing a normal life with webswinging and crime fighting. Every day of his life he has to be two people, and the same goes for all superheroes. But what if it was different? What if someone only had his/her powers for one day a year and the rest were spent living like an average person? Well, that's the plot of Ron Howard's next movie.
Titled 364, the project is based on a script by David Guggenheim, who also wrote the upcoming Safe House with Ryan Reynolds and Denzel Washington. Deadline reports that Universal will make the film with Brian Grazer and Erica Huggins producing. Guggenheim has been on a roll since selling his script for Safe House, having also set up Medallion at Millennium Films, Puzzle Palace at Summit and a mystery project called Santiago at Fox. In addition to 364, Ron Howard's schedule includes the racing drama Rush (which begins production this week) and the Dustin Lance Black-scripted Under the Banner of Heaven. I must admit to being insanely curious about this concept and its structure. Will the film take place over a 24 hour span or will we see the main character on multiple superpowered days? How do you make a super villain for a character with such an obvious weakness? Exactly what powers does the protagonist have? It's almost a shame Ron Howard is directing this. Because of his full schedule, it may be years before this project gets made and we get answers to those questions. |
