Raise your hand if you’re tired of hearing about the War in Iraq, George W. Bush, and terrorism in general. Yeah, my hand flew up into the air too. Make it both of them.

With all the 9/11 movies on the horizon (here’s to you, Oliver Stone), it makes me wonder when people stopped loving movies for the sheer value of escapism. Maybe we all secretly get off on paying to be depressed.

According to Variety, Universal Pictures has acquired Jamie Moss’ script Last Man Home, for Ron Howard to direct. He will join producers Brian Grazer and Tom Lassally through Imagine Entertainment.

Taking place just days before President George W. Bush launched full-scale war in 2003, the film revolves around a military unit looking for an AWOL American soldier in Iraq. Where can he be? Well, he is looking for his brother, who went missing when fighting in the first Gulf War. Sounds like fun for the whole family.
