Rooney Mara And Casey Affleck Fight The Law In Ain't Them Bodies Saints Trailer

While it went into the festivities fairly under the radar, David Lowery's crime drama Ain't Them Bodies Saints emerged from the Sundance Film Festival as one of the most buzzed about indies in the 2013 class. The film picked up both the Cinematography Award and the Indian Paintbrush Producer's Award after its premiere, but more importantly it had numerous reviews written about it praising pretty much everything about it. And now IFC is getting it ready for theatrical release, a process that begins by releasing the first ever trailer (which comes to us from Apple).

Watching the spot, it's already fairly clear why the film received top marks aesthetically. The lighting is downright beautiful, some of the shots of the Texas sky and landscape are stunning, and the dark sepia filter adds a great cinematic quality. It's also quite hard to imagine that the pairing of Rooney Mara and Casey Affleck would produce anything less than stellar results. Ain't Them Bodies Saints is most definitely on our radar

Both written and directed by Lowery, the film stars Affleck and Mara as Bob Muldoon and Ruth Guthrie, a pair of outlaws and lovers who find themselves tested when Bob has to turn himself over the the police. Bob is brought off to prison, but he manages to escape and makes his way across the Texas hills so that he can not only be with Ruth, but also the daughter he has never met. The impressive supporting cast includes Ben Foster, Rami Malek and Keith Carradine. IFC will have the movie in theaters on August 16th.
